Nicole Gabe Biography
Nicole Gabe is an Asian-American journalist working for WINK as an anchor on weekdays at Noon and 3:00 p.m. since August 2021. She joined the station in June 2019 as a multimedia journalist and reporter. In August 2020, she was promoted to work as co-anchor of WINK News Weekend.

Gabe joined Virginia Tech in 2015 when she finished her high school education. In 2019, she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Multimedia Journalism and a Minor in Political Science. During her time in college, she partook in the Delta Gamma Rho Gamma Chapter from 2015 to 2019. Also, she held several summer internships at WABC 7 On Your Side, WFXR Sports, IMG Virginia Tech, and Whitewall Magazine.

Hearst Magazines and Miss Virginia USA/Miss Virginia Teen Media Intern
Gabe started her career at Hearst Magazines in the Greater New York City Area as the Seventeen Magazine Model. There she worked from 2012 to 2014 and was picked to model for various print editorial and on-air segments for the magazine. She was also recruited for the TODAY show prom segment, and she coordinated directly with producers & exposed to behind-the-scenes broadcast procedures, among other duties.
For one month in November 2016, she served as a social media intern for Miss Virginia USA/Miss Virginia Teen Media Intern in Blacksburg, VA. Gabe worked directly with the Director of Miss Virginia USA & Miss Virginia Teen USA and the Communications Team to help amplify social media coverage of the event across Virginia. She also documented events via Snapchat, reaching an audience of 4,000+, and interacted with high-profile contestants to coordinate photographs for social opportunities.
Nicole Gabe Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and Aerie
From September 2016 to December 2016, Gabe was a student designer at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, VA. There, she created an advertisement for the FitX-fitness watch brand that enables step tracking, peer connectivity, and other fitness features. She also utilized Adobe Indesign to develop flyers to promote FitX products and designed flyers using company-provided logos, statistics, and information.
Gabe then worked as a brand ambassador for Aerie in Blacksburg, VA, from February 2017 to May 2017. She generated awareness and buzz for the Aerie Happy Tour pop-up and promoted it on Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook to an audience of over 2,000. Gabe also connected with fashion influencers on campus and spoke to groups of over 250+ attendees about the Aerie Happy Tour pop-up. She then accompanied Aerie spokesperson, Iskra Lawerence, to help advocate the #aerieREAL campaign around Virginia Tech’s campus.

For the month of June 2017, she was a freelance modeler in the Greater New York City Area. There, she appeared on Extra (TV Program) surrounding the swimsuit segment and appeared in 4 issues of Seventeen Magazine. She also filmed make-up tutorials with celebrity make-up artist Ricky Wilson for Seventeen Magazine’s digital platform. Gabe then became a creative writer at Odyssey from August 2016 to August 2017. There, she was in a student-driven digital publication focused on providing students an outlet to share their authentic voices and opinions on national topics for a readership of 30,000+ students. She was picked personally to develop content focused on lifestyle and entertainment and consistently published articles and listicles on a bi-weekly basis. From June 2017 to August 2017, she was an Editorial Assistant Intern at Whitewall Magazine, in the Greater New York City Area. She directly reported to the editor-in-chief, assisting with analyzing PR pitches, transcription, and editing the website via WordPress. Gabe contributed weekly news stories and trend pieces tied to news announcements, events, and openings and attended press previews on behalf of the magazine to connect with notable Industry executives such as Wendell Castle.

From August 2016 to September 2017, she worked as an anchor and reporter for VTTV Limited in Blacksburg, VA. She gained extensive on-air experience, acting as the anchor for the Entertainment Broadcast, and wrote scripts and followed breaking news to develop original news segments for the station. Gabe also produced and edited a 30-minute shot for Virginia Tech Television. From June 2017 to September 2017, she worked as an editorial Intern for Brinch Boys-NYC Food Lifestyle in the Greater New York City Area. There, she managed a social media account for @BrunchBoys (439K Followers) and worked directly with the Founder to produce content for high-profile brands (i.e. Dixie Paper Plates). She also assisted with field segments, filming top chefs in New York City.
Gabe then joined WFXR News as a sports intern from August 2017 to December 2017 in Roanoke, Virginia Area. During her time there, she served directly with the sports director to produce play-by-play highlights for the Friday Night Show and Friday Night Blitz broadcasts. She covered the sideline for Virginia Tech football games and assisted reporters with scheduling one-on-one interviews with Virginia Tech team members. Gabe also shadowed WFXR reporters on assignments by watching stand-ups, interviews, live shots, script writing, tacking, logging, and editing. She shot and edited multiple LIVE broadcast sports segments for local Roanoke sports shows among other duties.
Nicole Gabe Disney ABC Television Group, IMG Media, and Virginia Tech
Gabe worked as a WABC 7 On Your Side Intern for Disney ABC Television Group in the Greater New York City Area from May 2018 to August 2018. There, she monitored the news desk hotline to determine newsworthy stories for 7 On Your Side, researched segment ideas, conducted Q&As with potential guests, and pitched storylines to the producer daily. She also worked directly with reporter, Nina Pineda, while on assignment by watching stand-ups, interviews, live shots, and script writing. Moreover, she interviewed the rapper, Common, one-on-one during a surprise donation to the Renaissance School of the Arts, and attended Revel’s grand opening press conference, interviewed the CEO and COO. She also gained control room and newsroom experience by shadowing news producer, Patrick Becker, anchor Liz Cho, David Novarro, and Diana Williams.
From August 2018 to January 2019, she worked as a Virginia Tech ACC/ESPN Network Intern with IMG Media in Blacksburg, Virginia. She worked directly with the head of IMG at Virginia Tech weekly on sideline reporting, anchoring, and interviews in preparation for live segments. She also shadowed IMG broadcaster, Andrew Alleggretta, which included pregame show and play-by-play training. For the month of June 2019, she worked as a moderator for Virginia Tech moderating the 2019 Reunion Weekend Virginia Tech Communication Panel. The panelists consisted of Bill Roth, professor of practice in the Department of Communication and former voice of the Hokies; Matt Arden, head of content and media, NBA2K League; and Jummy Olabanji, weekend anchor, and reporter for NBC 4 New York.

Since August 2021, Gabe has worked as an anchor on weekdays at Noon and 3:00 p.m. She joined WINK-TV in the Fort Myers, Florida Area working as a reporter and Multimedia Journalist from June 2019 to August 2020. She was then elevated to the morning news anchor and reporter in August 2020, and served until August 2021, anchoring over four hours of consecutive newscasts.
Gabe covered Hurricane Ian during and after landfall and field anchored the 2021 EF1 Tornado Damage. She also co-anchored hours of newscasts with no scripts, little communication with reporters/officials, and limited cell and internet service following Hurricane Ian.
Gabe has covered top political stories such as Governor DeSantis’ re-election party and Former President Donald Trump addressing his indictment at Mar-a-Lago. She also field anchored Hurricane Ian’s six-month mark from Fort Myers Beach. Gabe is a member of the Asian American Journalists Association from January 2019 to the present.
