Nice try. I'll bet you also think "Elimination" sounds like "Master of Puppets". |

I know I'm straying off topic here, but I seriously cannot believe there are some people who refuse to see the similarity between "Elimination" and "Master of Puppets". OH THE THIRD CHORD IS DIFFERENT AND IT'S IN A DIFFERENT KEY AND BLARGABLARGA and I know Overkill rules and Metallica is lame so therefore implying Overkill did anything similar to Metallica after Metallica did it first is blasphemy to the great UltraBoris in the sky and whatnot, but if you can seriously listen to the two riffs in question and not concede any similarity at all, you are in denial, simple as that. It's such a small part of the song, I highly doubt most people even realize that riff is there BastardHead wrote: I know I'm straying off topic here, but I seriously cannot believe there are some people who refuse to see the similarity between "Elimination" and "Master of Puppets". Metallica are not lame. |

I think even if only a little bit of a riff is changed, it gives it a new dimension and a new personality. The way the beats are placed, the pace, the octaves, the tones, all that makes a big difference. I could pick up my guitar and start jamming and it would sound like a million Judas Priest and Iron Maiden riffs, that doesn't mean I stole anything. Also making the point that that riff is only part of a Devourment doesn't state much. It' still a catchy riff and it repeats it's self later on anyways. Don't worry about my opinion. |
